MY APPROACH

File_000.jpg

My approach to therapy is informed by interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory and modern psychoanalysis. It is grounded in research-based modalities including Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

From a strong relational attachment foundation we can work together to embrace vulnerable parts of you with compassion to heal past trauma.

I have found yoga, meditation and mindfulness to be hugely beneficial. I often bring somatic-based experiential therapy approaches into sessions. Together we will listen to your body, learn to understand your emotional responses and respond accordingly.

I am also trained in EMDR Therapy, we can utilize this tool to help process significant traumatic memories and help you move on from any experiences that may be holding you back.

Finally, I am committed to using anti-racist and inclusive lenses in the therapy room at all times.

SPECIALTIES

Grief and Loss Therapy

Each grief experience is different for each person.  I myself have experienced my fair share of personal grief and loss, which allows me to be very comfortable sitting in and processing any heaviness you’re moving through.

Intense grief can come when you experience change and transition, even if there isn’t a death loss.  Grief is cyclical and new losses or transitions can bring up old grief from past losses you did not have the chance to fully process.  Whatever it may look like I am ready to walk along side you in your grief journey.

Highly Sensitive People (HSPs)

20-30% of our population are Highly Sensitive Individuals.  This may be a sensitivity to fluorescent lights, loud sounds and/or an emotional or energetic sensitivity, a heightened empathetic response.  In the highly-stimulating world we live in this can be very overwhelming and feel like a burden. A lot of Highly Sensitive People have grown up in families where they’ve been misunderstood or shamed for being “overly sensitive.”

I myself identify as highly sensitive and have experience helping people navigate this gift.  By understanding your sensitivity and building tools to manage it you can begin to learn how to utilize it to your benefit and live a more full life.
